Work hard, play hard, shop harder. And not yet packing for India.

I'm working pretty furiously until the very last minute of the holidays, as usual, with my philosophy of trying to have it all in a never-endingly eventful Travelife.

So this is definitely a case of play hard and work even harder.

And perhaps shop the hardest.

And now I'm packing for my trip to India over Holy Week.

INDIA FOR SPIRITUAL RENEWAL
OR SHOPPING?

There's really no connection between India and Holy Week, although it is a good chance for some kind of spiritual renewal, as a friend says on his Facebook status update.

I'm making no such "excuses," however.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm flying to India for a couple of really good gourmet dinners, some exotic shopping, and stays at some of the most beautiful hotels in the world.

KILLING ALL BIRDS WITH ONE STONE

I just happen to have a business meeting in a pretty exotic part of India at this time, as well.

So I thought I might as well include one more place I'd been hearing about for a while, but to which I've never been.

And a friend of mine is game to come along, so everything worked out as it usually eventually does in a never-ending Travelife.

A LIFE OF PACKING CHALLENGES

India's quite a short trip, but it's full of packing challenges.

For one thing: how do you pack for sightseeing in dusty and pretty fierce heat in the daytime, and drinks and fancy dinners practically every night, and still leave enough space in your luggage for shopping?

LIFE AT A PALACE

And, oh yes. What exactly do you wear when you're staying at the former palace of one of the richest men in the world?

It's one of India's most talked-about hotels, and we've reserved and ordered for the the full-blown experience. Carriage ride and all, included.

UNDER 24 HOURS TO TAKE OFF

I'll let you know as soon as I've got the wardrobe nailed down. And I've got less than 24 hours to make sure it's done.

And then it's on to another chapter in my never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
