Win a full scholarship for a British education

The Rotary Club of Makati Dasmarinas (RCMD) is once again offering a full school scholarship to a deserving student tin partnership with the British Schools Group.

The British Schools Group is one of the largest networks of British international schools in the world. With schools in three continents, it is their mission to provide excellent British style education in an international context, designed for children of British and Commonwealth expatriates.

A BRITISH EDUCATION IN MANILA

In the Philippines, the British Schools Group opened the King's School Manila in 2012. It is one of only two British international schools in the Philippines using the English National Curriculum as mandated by the UK’s Department of Education.

The other school using the UK-approved curriculum is  the British School in Bonifacio Global City.

KING'S SCHOOL MANILA

The King's School Manila is fully run and managed by the British Schools Group with a headmaster and faculty members from the United Kingdom.

The scholarship being offered is for a deserving Filipino student who will start school from Level 5, which is equivalent to Grade 4.

The applicant must be must be nine years of age as of September 1, 2013, with a good command of the spoken and written English language, and with excellent social skills. They should be able to easily adapt to an international environment.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE SCHOLARSHIP

The child will receive a full scholarship until he or she finishes the equivalent of High School at the King's School Manila.

This includes:

1) Full payment of annual tuition. The annual tuition for this level is around six hundred fifty thousand Pesos (Php650,000.00)

2) Extra expenses amounting to seven hundred fifty thousand pesos (Php750,000.00) per school year for school meals, books, materials, and uniforms.

WHO CAN APPLY

Children, grandchildren, and relatives of Rotarians are welcome and are encouraged to apply. The first recipient of the RCMD-King's School Scholarship was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Parañaque St. Andrew. He is doing very well in his class.

The formal application form is now posted on-line at the RCMD website. Download and completely fill-up the application form, and submit this via e-mail to info@rcmakatidasma.com no later than 5 PM of January 31.

WHAT SHOULD ACCOMPANY THE APPLICATION

1) PDF or JPEG file of the Applicant’s NSO Certified Certificate of Live Birth
2) PDF or JPEG file of the Applicant’s latest Report Card
3) JPEG file of a clear Half Body Photo of the Applicant
4) JPEG file of a clear Full Body Photo of the Applicant
5) A Video of the Applicant (not longer than 3 minutes) where he or she is speaking on the topic, “Why I want to receive an Education in an International School.” The video must show the applicant in a full body shot.

STRICT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT

All applications must be endorsed by a Rotary Club in Rotary District 3830 (except RCMD).

The application form must be counter-signed by the current President or Secretary of the endorsing Rotary Club. Applications which are not endorsed by a Rotary Club in Rotary District 3830 will be disregarded by the Selection Committee.

JANUARY 31 DEADLINE

The hard copy of the application form, together with the hard copy of all the documentary attachments, must be submitted to the endorsing Rotary Club before the January 31, 2013 deadline.

After evaluation by the selection committee, applicants will be trimmed to a maximum of ten (10) finalists. These finalists will undergo a series of written tests and interviews, and from these finalists, the selection committee will select one (1) scholar for entry for Level 5 at the King’s School Manila for school year 2013-2014.

School year 2013-2014 shall commence in September 2013.
