Philosophy for a happy Travelife, 2013

The other day, I saw this quote on someone's status update in Facebook.

I can't remember anymore which Facebook friend should be credited for this -- apologies for this -- but I liked it so much that I copied it and sent it to everyone in Travelife Magazine.

OUR MANTRA FOR LIFE AND LIVING

This has always been our mantra for life, and for living. It's from someone else, but we've added a few thoughts of our own into it, so you might say it's now a collaborative effort.

I thought it would be very appropriate for the start of a new and hopefully wonderful year for us all.

A WAY TO LIVE 2013.
A PHILOSOPHY TO REMEMBER FOREVER.

This is your life. Do what you love, and do it often.

WORK

If you don’t like your job, quit.

But if you're lucky enough to find a job you enjoy, make sure you're the best at it. Or at least make sure you give it your best effort every single day. There really is no substitute for consistent hard work.

TIME

Many people are time-poor, but they still manage to get the job done. If you don’t have enough time for the really important things in your life, take a minute to look at what you do everyday and cut out the non-essentials. Or at least do them less.

LOVE

If you are looking for the love of your life, stop; they will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love. If you focus on living the kind of life you want, many people will naturally want to be a part of it.

And if you happen to like someone who doesn't seem to like you back enough, take him or her out of your life as soon as you can. You deserve to be with someone who is willing to put the time and effort to be with you. If that's not happening now, it's going to happen later. Just make sure you focus on you and being the best person you can be.

Temporary joys are sometimes okay too

That said, try enjoying the company of people who are in your life for a reason or a season.

I know it's difficult; but if you are able to stop thinking about what will happen next and just enjoy the moment for what it's worth, you'll find that happiness is possible for two hours, two days, two weeks, two months or two years.

Not everyone needs to be in your life forever. That should be reserved only for very special people.

LIFE & EMOTIONS

Stop over analyzing because life is pretty simple. Most things can be taken at face value, although so many of us like to read so much meaning into things.

All emotions are beautiful.

Even pain, because it gives you depth and offers you an opportunity to reflect on your life and values.

None of us do much reflection on a regular basis, but when we're in pain, most of us will do so.

Of course, happiness is infinitely preferable to pain. But life is a mixture of both, so get set for a roller coaster of emotions.

When you eat, appreciate every last bite. Open your mind, arms, and heart to new things and people. Ask the next person you see what their passion is, and share your inspiring dream with them.

TRAVEL

Travel often, and fearlessly explore new worlds while and when you can.

It's one amazing world out there. Besides, getting lost will help you find yourself. Some opportunities only come once. Make sure you seize these and don't let these go.
