Big, delicious things at MAFBEX 2012



The 6th Manila Foods and Beverages Expo (MAFBEX), the biggest and most awaited food event of the year is going “Back to Basics” at the World Trade Center Metro Manila and WTCMM East Wing on June 13 to 17, 2012 from 10am to 8pm.

Professionals and enthusiasts from the food and beverage industry will be treated to a five-day expo with an impressive line-up of activities. Witness culinary experts battle it out in cook-offs, learn from seminars handled by the industry’s bests, and sample all sorts of international cuisines from renowned local and international chefs.

Across the world, there has been an increase in the demand for healthy foods and products with simple ingredients for a healthier lifestyle. Dietitians confirm that there is a growing consumer preference for food products that are more “natural” and features raw ingredients that are easily understood and are less processed.

Organized by Worldbex Services International (WSI), in cooperation with the De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), and for the benefit of the ABS-CBN Foundation, MAFBEX 2012 is the biggest and the most comprehensive food show in the country with over 500 booths showcasing the best the world has to offer.

A FULL AND DELICIOUS SCHEDULE



Top local chefs will rule the stage in “Chefs of the World” as they showcase the best techniques and ingredients in the world of food. Witness celebrity chefs cook their hearts out through a fusion of flavors and tastes in a one of a kind kitchen set-up.

Renowned kitchen master chefs like Sau Del Rosario, Jeremy Favia, Mitchie Sison, Reggie Caňo, Myrna Prat and Alex Chong, among many others, will be at the five-day expo, and they'll be treating visitors to an impressive line-up of gastronomic and culinary related activities. They'll be showcasing their diverse cuisine backgrounds ranging from Mediterranean, Korean, Taiwanese, Moroccan, Persian, Malaysian and modern Filipino dishes.


The expo this year also features the biggest international pavilion with countries like Singapore, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, USA and Europe offering ethnic delicacies and ingredients from all over the world, blending together in a melting pot of exotic flavors.




Professors and culinary experts from De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde will be conducting free seminars covering topics ranging from Healthy Food to a Healthier Living, Franchising 101, Seafood Butchery, Philippine Gastronomy, to recent advances in Water and Food Safety and many more. There will also be demonstrations of some products that may prove useful in certain food-related businesses.

KITCHEN ON WHEELS



Another highlight for this year is the launch of Atoy Llave’s food trucks. These trucks functions as restaurants on wheels -- from the interior kitchen set up and cashier system, to foldable tables and even an acrylic food window where guests can choose their orders. Atoy Llave customized a 1991 Mitsubishi Canter truck and incorporated ergonomic and operational designs from abroad.

According to Atoy, this concept has never been done before in the Philippines and he hopes he can help the budding food and beverage entrepreneurs and introduce customized food trucks as a source of income.

The country’s top food distributors will also be selling imported goods at discounted prices at MAFBEX. Savour ready-to-buy, ready-to-sample, ready-to-impress products that define the global basket of flavours in a one of a kind grocery experience.
