Lunch with a geisha, Feb 17

Good evening from Tokyo, still in the middle of winter and here I am wishing for the warmth of Manila.

Meanwhile, at the Travelife Magazine office in Makati, we have an unfortunate problem, although I guess it's the sort of problem most companies would want to have. TRAVELIFE Japan Night on February 16 at the Dusit Thani Manila is completely booked out, and as of this afternoon, there was a waiting list of 100 people.

and Lunch with a Geisha & Travelife on Feb 17 (lunch)

We really want to share Japan's amazing culture with as many people as possible, and especially with Travelife readers and friends. This visit of the geisha, moreover, is simply historic. Geisha almost never travel outside of their cities, and especially not to Third World countries. But somehow, with some help, we've been able to persuade maiko (young geisha) to come over and enthrall Filipinos.

So naturally we want as many people as possible to see their performance -- especially as it's so difficult to see geisha performing, even in Japan. They're very picky about performing and the costs are tremendous. Most people are advised to prepare six figures in yen or US dollars if they want a private geisha performance.

NO FRIENDS AND FAMILY

So I've been mulling over this overbooking problem for days, and finally we found a solution via a lunch with the geisha on February 17. Dinner with the geisha on February 16 is so full as of this moment that I've not even invited any personal friends and earlier I just gave up my own dinner for someone else -- just to enable more people to see this fantastic show. Besides, I never eat at my own events anyway, even if dinner is properly set in front of me. So I'll be there but someone else will be eating my degustation dinner.

DINNER WITH A GEISHA ON FEB 16
LUNCH WITH A GEISHA ON FEB 17

So now we have TRAVELIFE Japan Night -- Dinner with a Geisha -- on February 16, and we have Lunch with a Geisha & Travelife Magazine on February 17. We've just opened up the lunch on February 17 30 minutes ago but nevertheless we have limited seating. So if you would like to see the geisha, please reserve as soon as possible!

And if you'd really prefer the dinner, please let us know as well. With the lunch opening up, I expect we're going to be doing a bit of musical chairs in terms of seating and arrangements, so something may open up.

As always, we'll try our best to accommodate everyone as we really want you to experience the beauty of Japanese culture.
