Work's a beach

It's true that surroundings can make a difference to one's moods. Last night in Batangas, after a really fun dinner with the Travelife TV guys -- full of jokes and teasing, as usual -- I decided to take my computer out by the poolside to check emails and try and finish my column for Travelife's upcoming June-July issue. For some reason, this column was very difficult to get started and I'd made so many drafts that I'd ended up trashing.

But last night, al fresco with a starry sky above and pretty good music playing, I found my column writing itself. I stayed up till 11 PM with my feet on the table, the computer on my lap, and serenity all around me. After endless rushing about, it was a time for peace and reflection. I found myself getting slightly sentimental and remembering things past. I guess that's what an encounter with nature's beauty, coupled with a little nice music, does.

This morning, it's another beautiful day in Batangas and I've spent most of it so far under a very large beach umbrella writing on my computer as the guys bustled around the property with their cameras. I really hate to leave but we're packing up to head back to Manila after a big lunch of local delicacies, including the famous lobsters that can be purchased right along the shores.

I'm driving back in a new Mini Countryman just released in Manila a few weeks ago. And tonight, I'm joining in the celebrations for Israel's National Day -- and planning to wear a saree again.

Just another day in our neverending Travelife.
