Behind-the-Scenes of the GK Hope Ball

Over 370 guests filled the maximum-capacity ballroom of the Peninsula Manila on October 8 for the very first Gawad Kalinga (GK) Hope Ball sponsored by the Peninsula Manila, Rustan's Corporation and Travelife Magazine. The ball raised over PhP 10 million pesos that night for the GK communities in Mindanao. Everyone enjoyed the glamorous atmosphere, the amazing five-course dinner prepared by Glenda Barretto, Myrna Segismundo, Jessie Sincioco, Claude Tayag and Peninsula executive chef Freddy Schmidt, and the incredibly fun auction.

Many thanks to the companies and individuals who generously donated to this wonderful event.

The venue of the silent auction which offered all sorts of interesting items including a pair of shoes donated by former First Lady Imelda Marcos, vintage wine from the Spanish Ambassador, a stay in a suite in the Peninsula Tokyo, and a limited edition brass and gold-plated Bulgari evening bag. Personally, I was so concerned with the live auction and with the entire evening going well that I forgot to check out the silent auction after the event was over! There were a couple of items I would have loved to have bid on and won!
